Hi All,
I'm a big Guildwars player and I've noticed in the last six months or so the game performance has changed for me. I've always gotten glass smooth framerates (constant 75fps or more, whatever my refresh is, with vsync). But now it starts out fine but as soon I leave town and go out questing, the framerate starts dropping until it bottoms out in the 30s.
At that point, no amount of graphical tweaking or lowering the settings all the way will ever recover performance. It just stays stuck down in the 30s. But if I close the game and instantly come back in everything is fine again for awhile until the same thing happens. It does this with my 6800GT and my 8800GTX, WTH?
What's strange is that I get this stuttering that's almost rhythmic, not like the usual random frame rate choppyness. Smooth - stutter, smooth - stutter, and so on. My HD isn't accessing during this time either.
I'm beginning to wonder if their game engine is messed up because no other game does this for me. It's definitely not a heat problem because I've logged my critical temperatures while playing and they're fine. I have minimal software running in the background and no virus scanner while playing, so I don't think there is any conflicts.
I've tried just about every tweak I know how to do and nothing helps. Driver reinstalls, Windows reinstalls. OC'ing, no OC'ing, virtual mem settings, you name it. I know my system is more than capable of running this game perfectly because I've been playing since it came out.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
