Guild Wars......

it's another mmorpg. the thing with it is that there is no monthly fee to play it, but you have to buy the expansion packs that come out every quarter?? or so.

This game reminds me so much of diablo, I beta tested it and was not impressed. It just doesnt seem fun to me. Of course this is just my $.02.

It's a free mmorpg just like Diablo but with better graphics. I think some people from Blizzard left to work for the developers of Guild Wars.

Those of you who think this is a no-fee MMORPG are in for a big surprise. And those who don't know what an MMOG are, well, you can go on believing that this is an MMOG.

Oh well I think I'm out of my MMO phase and moving on into FPS's.

Please explain it to us then

It's more like a team play version of diablo. A game in which you can jump in and play at your own leisure or one you can compete with other clans in their battlegrounds arena. They should've just called it diablo3... 😀

Everything is instanced in this game... like Diablo style. You can go into the 'cities' and find a group of people (or hire a couple of NPCs to follow you around and heal you), then enter an instance zone and run through it. When you're done, go back to the city, rinse, repeat.

So what about it being free? Is this statement in regards to the expansions you have to buy every 3-4 months? And do you actually have to buy them.

Free as in no monthly fees... and it's understandable. When you're instancing everything, you don't need a server to host hundreds of other players simultaneously.

As for expansions... supposedly you can choose not to upgrade and the game will still be playable... but if everybody else is doing the new content, then you'll be left out... and there's probably going to be new spells or items that are only available with the expansion.

A new expansion every 3 or 4 months? Diablo 2 LOD came out like a year after the first one, I can't picture expansions spilling out fast enough to act as a fee. And I can't picture enough content in each expansion to justify purchasing each one.

Is blizzard planning to make Diablo III? I loved Diablo II, Only MMORPG I liked plus i made some money off it.

EDIT: Did a quick search, looks like they are coming out with it in 2006

The game hasn't even come out yet and people are griping about the expansions. 😀

If they were to do it, it probably would not be as good. All the diablo I and II developers left blizzard a while back to work on this.
