Guild Wars World Preview started early

Thanks! Guild Wars looks very promising. From what I hear it takes some of the best aspects out of the pvp aspects (as seen in Lineage II) and improves upon it. Game play is supposively very fun. I guess we'll see. 😀
 
Is it really a mmorpg? I heard that there will be no subscription fee and it won't be one big world. Kinda like D2.

it's a MMOG not to compete with WoW/Lineage2, I sort of think it's a hybrid of Lineage 2's castle storming with the same game play as D2 (but in 3d and Team play as essentials).
 
Downloading now, after you build your guy you have to download a pretty big file, I am guessing that is the game engine.

It blows. Even the die hard fans were bailing out and telling everyone how much it sucked after the NDA was lifted. I think WOW is going to domintate the mmorpg market for a while.
 
Thanks for the heads up. I played Guild Wars during E3 and loved it. I was playing up until the moment when they brought the servers down.
 
aside from dannyboy and ketteringo (who sold his account),

I have yet to find another Lineage 2 player in the forums 🙁


and i played giuldwars during their e3 promotion thing. it looks very promising. It's kind of like D2, but you form parties after you've joined a specific server.
and the penalty for dying isn't as harsh as L2, unless they changed it ahahaha. I haven't tried its pvp yet though..
 
I've been playing it since the world preview release opened. The game most closely resembles dungeon siege to me, but borrows its character developement/skills developement more from Diablo 2. I think that's an accurate description of what to expect from it. The graphics are quite nice. What surprises me is how incredibly well the game runs on my system. I've been playing it at 10x7 with 2xAA/4xAF and the game is 100% smooth as butter. I'll have to fraps it, but right now I'm guess my FPS (even with 50 people on screen) doesn't dip under 40-50, and when I'm off on a mission, it doesn't feel like it's going under 60fps. Game is pretty neat. I'm amazed that there will be no monthly subscription involved. That's going to be a popular selling point.
 
this game is sweet

played for 4 hours last night

runs silky smooth on my 6800 GTO (dell branded factory overclocked 6800 NU)

@ 1600x1200 with all options on 🙂
 
I heard that the game's player versus player area is dominated by Koreans. The only English they know is "lol" after they killed you.

Is this like EQ? I don't want to get sucked into it.

I played one 8x8x8x8 tournament match and I know there was at least one Korean team in there that lost.
 
I wasted my whole weekend playing this game.


that was about every spare minute that I didn't feel like my eyes were gonna fall out of their sockets I was online playing....felt like I was back in college 😕
