As the topic summary states, I used to play WoW a lot and want to get back into playing an MMO. I'm kind of sick of the monthly WoW fees since I play very sporadically. I might play a lot one month then not play again for a couple of months and the monthly fee of WoW seems like a rip off to me because of it.

I've heard good things aboug Guild Wars, but I want to give it a try before purchasing the game. I've heard its really instanced and I'm not sure how I feel about that yet.

If anybody has a trial key they are not using or something, I'd really appreciate it!

I don't have a key but its hard to get a good understanding of a game as large as GW with only playing a limiting amount of a trial. The game really starts when you max out your level and can experience everything.

There are 3 games and 1 expansion...each game costs around $10-15 a piece or you can get all in one. But if you enjoyed playing MMO then you should enjoy GW. If you can I would recommend spending $10 to get the original game or factions/nightfall...the original will help you learn the overall game better but its a slower process, while the other 2 get you into the action quicker and you can level up quicker.

If you liked WOW you might not like GW. It's very different. The only times you encounter other people are in towns. You can group up in a town to complete quests and such outside of towns. You can play the whole game by yourself by having NPC's play on your team instead of other people. I really enjoyed the game cus I really didn't play it too often and the game doesn't go without you. You basically have you're own world. It doesn't progress without you.

What are you talking about? If your playing with just NPCs, you're completely missing the point of GW, and your probably not playing on hard mode, which is the only real way to play.

And, you can't PvP with NPCs, and PvP is really the best part of GW.

and PM me if you want a trial key.

Well I'm saying that it's possible to solo GW which it is.

Once you complete the main storyline, assuming you're level 20(which you should be) you can turn on hardmode where monsters gain levels(minimum level is 20), you get 50% more exprience and the loot drops are better.

Sorry man, thanks to OP and this thread I've already given out 4 trial keys, so I can't really spare another. :(

Guild Wars doesnt have a monthly fee.
Buy the game and "try" it all you want.

I got it three years ago. Have three characters. One at level 4 and two at level 9.
I like that you dont HAVE to play it. You can come and go as you please.
My biggest issue is finding new areas. I'd like to get out of the dirty, burnt Ascalon region but I always get stomped when trying to sprint to other places.
If I stay & fight I get stomped that way. I guess I need to put in more than an hour a week and get some levels.
Or find a huge group thats willing to do exploration runs with me.

I have no idea what the community is like because I dont spend enough time with them.
