Guild Wars, they win some and lose some

So I saw the latest news about about hero merc stuff and went to log in and look at what it does. Well lucky me they have some new stupid ass account security crap they've added in the last yer or so and I can't even get into my account now. really, the super whammadine secret question is what is my in game char name. How retarded can you be.

I was curious, so I looked that up too. it's been more than a year since I logged in as well.

it looks like mercenary heroes are jsut clones of any of your player characters. You register one of you characters, and it becomes available as a hero for any of your other characters across the entire account.

looks like just the skin is cloned (armor set + hat or whatever at time of registration)--all weapons and armor runes are not transferred. You can delete the player character and your cloned mercenary character remains available on the account. and You have to pay for each registration, I guess.

it also looks like they increased hero slots from 3 to 7. Now seriously, why wasn't that the deal way back when?

If one of my characters had not been named with a terrible pun, I would not have been able to pass the 'security quiz' either.

This looks to me to be a reaction to some trouble in their Asian sites, with that security just being replicated across their whole account structure.

I think I can remember all eight or so of my character names...b/c they were all banned at some point.

:hmm:

maybe I only remember the banned names?

Since I haven't logged in since the first year it was released, I'd be lucky to remember the account login, let alone have access to the email account it was registered under.

Guild Wars isn't an MMO so go ahead and play it.

GW2 is looking completely MMORPG with completely persistent world.

Either way, that has got to be the geekiest, most useless argument floating around when it comes to games: MMO vs MMORPG vs the "Pretenders."

Who gives a shit? if you dig it, fine. Personally, I like to take my own pace with things, and I can't be bothered to sit next to the computer for 6 hours straight and guard my little dude in case some 12 year-old jerk offs show up and gang rape me stealing my loots. fuck that. I like to leave and go out a bit, sometimes leave the game open and running.
🙂

If they knew their Gaelic mythology better, they'd probably ban the one I'd made and knew as well. 😉

they definitely don't know their Italian, b/c when my rit/mule was banned for the name "Pimp My Mule," (Fucking lame, right?), I changed it to, basically, "Fuck your mother"

:sneaky:
