Guild Wars, MMORPG or just a RPG with online abilities?

I dunno, just the whole 3D interface will take it way different than Diablo as far as combat goes (no more sticking your guy in the doorway and holding down left click!), but the character growth looks about the same.

the pvp is awesome and the game as a whole definately has promise, but after playing WoW, the movement feels very restricting and buggy.

Just what we need, another Diablo clone. :(

Give it a rest already people. Diablo 1 was good for the RPG market because it distilled the genre down to the bare essentials. Diablo 2 was bad for the RPG genre because it pretty much sucked. No dialogue, no story, lousy visuals(D1 looked better), took 3 patches for online play to be feasible, God, I hate that game! You can't even call D2 an RPG. It bears more in common with Quake than an RPG.

I want more BG2s, more PS:Ts, more Fallouts! If you must make an action RPG, then make it like the IWD series. Both games actually had dialogue and story telling. And with a 6 person party, the battles were awesome, unlike the click fests of D1 and 2.

Guildwars is not a diablo clone in ANY way. The interface is completely different, the gameplay is completely different, it has an actual story...

Don't give up on Guildwars, it'll probably be pretty good.

I played GW world premier. It is deffinitely not an MMORPG and while I don't think saying "it is diablo" is completely accurate, I wouldn't say it is that far off base.

from what i read, everything seems to be instanced. That would limit the amount of people around you greatly.

The only time you are around everyone is basically a graphical lobby compared to other games. You only actually play the game with a single group, much like starting a new game in Diablo and other RPG's work.

Are you complaining that WoW does not have enough solo content?

If you think you are forced to group in WoW, play you some EQ and tell me what you think about WoW after that. I dont understand why people hate grouping.... i mean if you did not want to group and just solo the entire game, why not just play Morrowind?

Yes, that's why I cancelled WoW shortly after 60. I hate being forced to group to get good drops from instances.

So the answer is, that I can't make it through the game and own alone?

I couldn't tell you. I've only played for a few hours total during beta weekends. It's just an option I know is available.

Why would you even consider buying a game called Guildwars, thats biggest selling point is large group based pvp? lol

If you want to solo, obviously do not buy guildwars...

I like rpg's. The single player variety seems to be limited lately.

Well, MMOs are not for you and ElderScrolls IV, Oblivion is just around the corner. Please to not complain to blizzard and try to get them to make game more solo friendly (and thus lose evern more of the MMO aspect of it), i would rather them make it more group friendly by more elite quests. Basically, the only time people want to group now is to farm PvP honor points and do elite quest, you can solo from 1 to 60. I dont like this, its just not mmoish.

Exactly, once again I got spoiled by a good game that ruins a slightly lesser one. Last time was Empire earth which made Age of mythology look kinda sad in comparison. Then again I've only played betas of GW and some of it is encouraging.
