I don't think that he, or any of his admin, would have had anything to do with it, if it happen. That doesn't however, preclude the possibility that supporter/s? didn't ensure his victory in some areas that weren't repub strongholds that used eletronic voting.

Afterall, there have been some "irregularities" in certain areas over number of votes, exit polling, that sort of thing. How much is FUD, and how much is verifiable, though, is a counterpoint to the contention.

My "good sense" says it is very improbable that any significant tampering happened, but my hard earned cynicism says not to discount any possibility outright either.

and to conclude my musing: I can't think of anything short of a confession, one that contains hard evidence, perhaps physical evidence? say vid of some the culprit/s doing it? that could be called proof positive. Otherwise, it would qualify as a near perfect crime?

fairly long and detailed (but still easy to understand) article on the many, many ways to manipulate elections using e-voting machines, both on a per-machine basis and on county/state level.
Another bump for the most important article in P&N. If you're one of those who still dismisses concerns with electronic voting systems as partisan or "tin-foil" or no different from old-fashioned retail vote tampering, read the article. If you are unwilling to do so, then at least concede your ignorance and butt out of any discussion on the subject. American democracy is at stake, not just from dishonest Republocrats, but also from foreign powers (do you really think China or Venezuela, for example, might not benefit from tainting key races?), groups like al Qaeda, or even bored script kiddies. Educate yourself, contact your elected officials, and spread the word to friends and family.

When I posted this article, I was wondering whether voting machines should not have been commisioned instead of just buying them like commodities. Writing near-perfect software is doable after all, its just that commercial software companies simply aren't set up for it. For those not familar with software engineering, CMM and such, should read how the software for the space shuttle gets written: http://www.fastcompany.com/online/06/writestuff.html. Its a much different than what the vast majority of software companies are set up to do - most of them are between CMM level 2 and 3, but only a handful of companies have been able to get CMM5.

Surely, by now, enough 'evidence' should have been gathered so that a mainstream media outlet can properly 'break' this story, right???

How much longer will we have to wait???

You seem like one of those guys that thinks he's winning arguments by making up a question nobody's asking and then answering it... sort of like those guys that write books that defend intelligent design and attack evolution. Or Sean Hannity.

The article has little to do with whether or not Bush stole the election, it has to do with the fact that it's even possible to do so, which it should not be, especially this easily. These machines are not secure at all, and they're being used in the process of determining who should make decisions for our country. How can you not see how big of an issue that is?
