The poster "Diefool" has figured out how to do a RAID0 setup with a regular Dell laptop, with 2 drives. His, and others, posted drive speeds are phenomenal.

It is very simple and requires no extra software, just 2 drives (and you can get PATA or SATA drive caddies to go in the DVD drive slot from ebay etc)

On the other hand, it requires converting the drives to Dynamic Drives. Sounds great for fun and games but reliability for important stuff goes way down.

Sure STR goes up but it's not very practical.
