Hi all,
I just installed my new system, with the following specs:

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
C2D E6300
2gb Patriot ddr2-5300 4-4-4-12 (667mhz)
ATI Radeon x1900xtx
Audigy 4
Enermax Liberty 500W PSU
250GB Seagate SATAII HD
an old TEAC IDE CD-R/DVD combo drive (ripped it out of my old machine)
Rosewill R5604-BK Case (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16811147037)

I've read the posts about the DS3 on the motherboards forum, but they all seem to assume that you already know how to do overclocking, and I didn't find any particularly detailed explaination about each setting. I'm wondering if there any any guides/gurus out there with info on how to overclock using the Gigabyte DS3, specifically.

So far, my experiements have gone poorly and then better. I've only tried to OC the RAM, since I've read in so many reviews of these particular chips in the DS3 being able to clock to 800mhz, 4-4-4-12, 1.9v with no problems. So, I tried settings those values, and for VDIMM I used +0.1v because they are supposed to be 1.8v stock. I ran memtest test #5 and it got to the high 90% range before it started blasting errors at me. So I rebooted, set VDIMM to +0.2v and so far it's been memtesting solidly. I'm going to try orthos and super pi soon, and add my results to this thread. Is setting my RAM to 2.0v unsafe?

Thanx in advance for any advice!

Here are my settings... Press Ctrl +F1 at the main bios screen. Make sure first that you have the most updated bios F6 I believe... With these settings you will have 2.8GHz which is a 1GHz overclock... (huge but can go a bit higher). If you want to go higher the bump up the CPU HOST FREQ 5-10MHz at a time. You can also bump your CPU voltage up to 1.4v safely. Your memory will be the limit but it is safe to go to 2.2v max.

In BIOS second screen disable the thermal features (C1E, EIST, etc)

CPU Rate 7x
CPU Host ENABLED
CPU HOST FREQ 400
PCI-E 100 (or AUTO)
CIA2 DISABLED
System Memory Multiplier 2x (that's the 1:1 option)
DRAM TIMING MANUAL
CAS 5
RAS TO CAS 5
RAS PRE 5
TRAS 15
ACT ACT DEL AUTO
RANK WRITE AUTO
WRITE TO PREC AUTO
REFRESH TO ACT 0
READ to PRE AUTO
MEMORY PERF NORMAL (try also FAST or TURBO as you go above FSB400)
DIMM OVERV +0.2V (2.0V) or higher up to +4 is safe (2.2v)
PCI-E OVERV NORMAL
GMCh OVERV +0.1V (or 0.15V)
FSB OVERV +0.1V
CPU OVERV 1.375V (try up to 1.40V also)

I have the exact same CPU/Mobo/Memory setup as yourself.. (don't have that sexy xtx though *drool*)

Your memory can do 5-4-4-12 when overclocked. I'm running at 450MHz FSB right now for stability and stock voltages all over.. Only voltage increase I needed was Vdimm to +0.1
