Guidance with router option

Hello,

I currently use a Medialink Wireless-N Broadband Router with Internal Antenna (150 Mbps) - 2.4GHz - 802.11b/g/n, which serves a PS3, a Dell netbook, a WDTV-Live, and my kids iPad minis. This router services a one bedroom apt.

I've been debating on purchasing a Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station (ME918LL/A), thinking this might serve as an significant upgrade to the Medialink in terms of just being more robust, possibly increasing the overall bandwidth capabilities, etc. But given only my kids iPads are Apple products, I'm not certain as to whether I will run into problems with the PS3 and WDTV-Live.

Any advice is always appreciated and thanks in advance for your time.

Take care

I've come across this option as well, the ASUS RT-AC66U Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router.

Good line of thinking, but OP doesn't have any AC devices and in general, you'd come out ahead if you waited for the AC standard to continue maturing over the next months.

I would recommend the Asus RT-N66U instead.

My apologies, but what are "AC devices"? And if I went with the AC1750, would it not work at all with my PS3, WDTV-Live and the iPad minis?

Thank you

AC is just the newest wireless standard. It runs about 4 x faster than N but is only on the 5GHz band. If you don't know what it is, then you almost certainly don't need a router that supports it. It's all backwards compatible. Just like G supports G & B and N supports N, G & B.
