I am a complete Newbie to the OC world and I am having a hard time finding new OC info. The guide to OC on anandtech is from 1997 so I am hoping someone could help me or point me in the right direction.
I have a p4 1.8a with 16 Device RDRam on a Abit Th7-II with a AIW 8500dv. (I bought it with the intent to OC it, realizing that growing pains were imminent!! ) It would be a sin to no OC this, but I don't know how. Can't someone guide me through the steps I would need to take in the Bios? I tried to do it without guidance, thinking I knew what to do... I changed the CPU Operating Speed to 1866 (133) and that didn't work, the Bios say the Ram is at 399 and then XP Pro seems to stop me with a system file error, ?config? error I believe. Then I tried User Defined with a speed of 1800 and 133, and got another boot error. (Do I have to increase VOltage? Do anything with my Vid Care? OC my Ram first???)) Do i need new Bios?
I realized, I don't know what I am doing and I don't want to fry anything. There is very little out there that I can find (I guess I don't know the best sites yet) that will guide me through my first OC on a newer system.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. If you could tell me how or point me in the right direction that would be great.
