What do you all say when you refer to a user interface for a computer? I always spell it out as GUI. Gooey sounds stupid to me, and even if it's accepted, I refuse to say it like that.

I was curious, because it doesn't come up a lot in my circle. I see it in print, but seldom hear it. Recently someone described a "gooey", and it took me a second to interpret what he was saying. I always say it as GUI in my head, and also in the rare circumstances when I speak it.

I always read it in my head as "gooey", but I'm not in IT so I don't think I've ever actually said it out loud.

I meant to be G.U.I. just like you would say NCAA...or fbi...never i my life have i heard someone call it gooey.

I always say G-U-I. Some acronyms work when pronounced, like NATO. Others not so much, like GUI. I can see the "Goo" but how the hell do you get the phonetic E sound from an I? On top of that, it sounds dumb.

"I" can sound like "E", especially in languages other than English, but the point still remains that it sounds dumb :^D
