I know everyone says having the Guest account enabled is a big super security risk, but what are all the details around it? Is it that bad for an internal fileserver that no one but the admin actually logs onto locally (and does nothing more then windows updates and file permission changes)?
We have several older Windows 98 clients that need access to our 2003 fileserver, and I keep getting stuck with the $IPC password dialogue. I dont know that password because it wont let me choose a username. So I thought using the Guest account might help out. Are there other suggestions?
Some of these Win98 users do not log on to the domain, and even some that do cannot always connect. Win98 and Active Directory = mystery!
Thanks for the help.
