Vin Diesel is HITMAN!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with an interesting developement in the world of video game movie adaptations. It seems that Riddick himself will be stepping into the shoes of HITMAN. Of course, he's the obvious choice... I mean, now the studio doesn't have to spring for that haircut... heh.
This was confirmed by Variety today... and we got some promotional pics to go along with the story. Check 'em out:

Fox is arming Vin Diesel for "Hitman," attaching the thesp to topline the feature version of Eidos Interactive's videogame franchise of the same name.

The studio has set up "Hitman" with producers Chuck Gordon and Adrian Askarieh. Diesel will exec produce, and Daniel Alter will also be involved in some producing capacity.

The vidgame's story centers on an international assassin known as Agent 47 who works for a mysterious org dubbed the Agency.

"Hitman" reps Fox's second deal for a vidgame franchise this month. Studio is closing in on the rights to Microsoft's megahit "Halo" along with Universal (Daily Variety, June 10).

Fox prexy of production Hutch Parker and exec VP Alex Young will oversee for the studio.

First three games in the franchise have sold more than 10 million units. Eidos plans to release another sequel, "Hitman: Blood Money," this fall.

Gordon's Daybreak Prods. and Askarieh's Prime Universe shingle are already teamed up with John Woo and Terence Chang to produce Universal's feature adaptation of the vidgame "Spy-Hunter."

Unbelievable.

This role is basically tailor made for Jason Statham and it goes to Diesel? Ugh. If Diesel accepted it, and it's not sci-fi, expect another ridiculously cheesy script.

I'm more worried about who the hell is going to play Master Chief.

...

Wait, it doesn't matter. He never takes his helmet off. I don't wanna know what he looks like underneath.

Heh, same here

because vin diesel can't act.

He's not that bad but he constantly takes movies with extremely corny and ill conceived dialogue. See 2F2F, XXX, various other films.

i thought the hitman games have been going downhill?
Also, "The Professional" (Leon) is the best hitman movie ever.

He didn't do 2F2F because the story was too cheesy. I have to give him credit there... at least he has limits. Plus, when the hell have action stars ever been good actors? Mel Gibson isn't terrible, but Bruce Willis, Sly Stallone, Arnold... all bad actors.

Argh, I meant the first fast and furious movie. Paul Walker is an absolutely horrendous actor, but the script doesn't help any AT ALL.

Don't ever watch 'directors cut' version, it will spoil this movie totally.

This movie is gonna rawk!

Bang
Dude, I almost had you!

You never had me. You never had your sniper rifle. Breathing heavy not firing on the exhale like you should. You're lucky those extra grains in your load didn't backfire... You almost had me?

Ask any hitman, and REAL hitman. It doesn't matter if you miss by an inch or a mile. Head shots are everything.

Jason's the enforcer guy in snatch, right?

I would have preferred Jean Reno. He's the guy that starred with Natalie Portman in Leon the Professional. (I hear NAtalie is doing a sequel to that.)

I totally agree. I came into this thread thinking it was going to Statham.
