The door handle and shape of the steering wheel looks like a VW to me... However I dont know them enough to tell which model it is...

The Nerds made me think that might be correct.

any specifics? I crossed out toyota and honda because they don't use chrome handles on the interior, but I've never seen that knob thing next to the handle before. Also as far as I can tell the steering wheel is 4 spoke, and newer cars have 3.

Jetta or Beetle. Leaning towards Jetta

A pillar looks curved like the beetles but the steering wheel doesn't match. Also windsheild seems a bit close to the steering wheel for a beetle!

This is untrue. My 96 Accord has chrome handles. Parents' 03 Accord and 07 ES350 do, as does my friend's 05 Camry. So I don't know where you got that bit from.

Sorry, based on the older style steering wheel I hadn't seen chrome interior handles, so I didn't mean to include cars around after 2000. Didn't know about the Accord though. Either way, I still have no idea what car it is.

this is a Jetta 99.5- 04 end of story.

It can be a GTI but the 4 spoke is normally on jetta's only.

I'm willing to bet money on it being a jetta. the knob thing is for mirror adjustments and heated mirrors if they had it.

my guess is a 99-00 Jetta GL auto w/o heated mirrors.

note, the vehicle does have side airbags, so it has to be fairly new. I was going to say honda accord due to the steering wheel, but it could be a jetta.

The 4 spoke GTI GLX were up to 2001. The 02-04 GTIs had the 3 spoke wheels. Also, in the '02 - '04 GTIs, as well as the Jettas, the side airbags went into the A pillar instead of the side of the seats in the 99.5s - '01s.

Looks like it may be just a base model becasue there are no radio/cruise control buttons on the steering wheel.

02 - 04 Jetta GL with a 2.0 or 1.8T

I'm gonna say Passat ... dammit I can't believe I'm propagating the Jetta/Passat confusion

The door handle matches up better Link
