Guess its time for an upgrade!!

Had Reserator 1 Plus, bought Reserator 2 and EK water blocks for GeForce 8800 SLI cards on A8N-SLI Deluxe and AMD Opetron 175. When turned on, fire blasted from one video card. Went out, got my card replaced (under extended warranty) just incase replaced PowerSupply with BFG 1000w PSU and motherboard with again A8N-SLI Deluxe. Now, system turns on but freezes over Windows XP Setup, sometimes doesn't turn on, somtimes it does then freezes or long beep on start. Now in the whole process, FluidXP+ Extreme leaked over the system, while system off though. Also noticed that the replacement board has BIOS version 1205 while ASUS never came out with this BIOS version for this board. Latest is 1016. Tried to flash BIOS but freezes while flashing; "Please wait!!!". Seems like no choice but to upgrade. Now I'm way off the processor performance knowledge. Should I got with Intel or AMD. (Toughest question) Comparing Opetron 170, I would need definately better than what I have right now OR any suggestion without replacing board, how to fix thi system. Please help. I'm extremely frustrated because of all this run around.

Ok, first of all you need to paragraph your posts so they are readable.

So basically you had a water cooled system that leaked and you replaced parts and it still has issues?

It sounds like you already have some decent components and I would actually troubleshoot your system more and figure out what the actual problem is instead of wasting away money. It sounds like Core 2 is the way to go right now.

Sorry about that.
Well, when I turn on the system, it shows BIOS version 1205, where ASUS never came out with that BIOS. I guess the system board is used and somebody flashed wrong BIOS, I think. Secondly, it freezes when I try to flash BIOS to ASUS 1016 version, last official version for ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe board. After typing in BIOS file name and press enter, it reads floppy for 5 seconds and freezes at "Please Wait!!!". Tried different floppy disc also, same thing. It just that too much work unassembling whole system, draining coolant and reassembling everything that I don't want to try another system board and it turn out to be Processor! And if Core 2 is better, than I've to replace board again since I've had to buy processor if thats the case.

I've got lots of experience with ASUS bios hell. I would suggest, you first try to get a replacement BIOS chip from ASUS. THey should send one out for like $10...just pull the one out of the slot and replace it...you should then be on the latest BIOS.

Before you do that...you might want to try booting the system with NO USB cables plugged in...in fact, pull out anything that you don't absolutely need to boot. Just see if you can get it to start booting...if that works..start your troubleshooting by replacing things one at a time.

Swap PCI card in slots if you have them...try booting with differnt configurations..

I've heard lots of ppl that love ASUS and have never had issues, but my A8N-E board is just a little bitch. I can't boot with various USB cable configurations...and there is very little documentation to help troubleshoot.

You might also want to pull down memtest to see if your memroy survived the fire.

I've 3 mem chips and only 1 was installed that time. I'm not using same The memory that I had. So its not that! And to troubleshoot, I've disconnected all the drives and no USB is plugged.

definitely try a replacement bios from asus as its the simplest and cheapest method, also how did you clean the fluid xp from your system after the leak. If you havent done it already I would take any components that were leaked on (and not replaced) and go over them with rubbing alchohol then wait for it to dry completely and try booting.

Is soldering involve in replacing BIOS chip or does it just snap out.

Most of them these days can be pried out with screwdriver or pulled out with thin-nosed pliers. Carefully, of course.

you can look on the Motherboard for the BIOS socket. Is though be pretty clear if it's removable. I think that all new ASUS boards have a socket for the BIOS.
