As I was browsing through distributed.net's web site, I noticed this sentence, " Our infrastructure has been enhanced over the years and refined to a point where it can reliably handle tens of thousands of new computers."

Then thought to myself, "Tens of thousands?"

Ya right,

Heh heh... :D I'm guessing it's been a long time since they wrote that!

Have you stumbled across any hints as to what their upcoming big announcement is going to be? I was guessing it might be the announcement of the proven 24-mark Optimal Golumb Ruler.

I'm betting they lost the key(in a corrupted packet) for the RC5 challenge and are going to be announcing a process to re-check the processed material. ;)

EDIT: Just so the regular RC5 folks know, I'm not flaming the project.. it's just as likely that we've misplaced a few alien signals in the SETI project too. :Q ;)

Hmmm... but DNet doesn't know what the right key is in the first place, do they? But RSA does, and if DNet blew past it without identifying it, RSA might eventually say something to the effect of "hey, you passed the key up and nothing's been said, what's up?" Could be the case... but I'd think they would be about ready to announce the OGR-24 results by this time, too. Someone got the "pre-announcement" about a month ago in a DNet newsletter, but I forgot who it was. Anyone else remember?
