So, I jumped the gun and purchased parts for a new build thinking by now I would be able to get my hands an a non-founders edition 1080. Oops.

So I am looking to get the build up and running and just swap out GPU for GPU when I get the 1080(s). So (and yes, this will be the dumbest PC ever constructed), I will have:

Gigabyte X99p SLi
5830k
64GB DDR4 3000 (Turned out 64GB using the company account was $14 more than 32 so, why not)
Cpl 500GB Samsung 850 Evo,s

....and a Geforce 7600GT.

Question is simple (and really I am just confirming), yaning a 7600GT and putting in a GTX1080 will be pretty simple right? Just uninstall one set of drivers for the other? Not like Im going AMD to Nvidia or anything.

In the meantime though I fully plan to try some gaming on it just for kicks.

Perfect, thanks. Just haven't done it in a while (3-4 yrs) and remember driver wise it could be a pain to fully remove the old driver software.

When I swapped out my 460GTX for a 960GTX I didn't even bother to uninstall drivers. Just installed the card and installed latest drivers, worked fine.

Same here moving from 680ti to 980ti late last year. Windows 7 - on are much better about changing drivers than 98 and XP were.

Yeah, you can always use DDU in safe mode if you really want to, but it should be fine. It has a "Installing new GPU" mode.

What OS will you be installing? The 7600GT doesn't have any official Windows 10 drivers. Only 7 and 8.

Good point! suppose I could go Win 7 then just run the upgrade (I'll let it auto run...make the folks at MS nice n happy)
