Anyone know if walmart or someplace sells these cheap for maybe $3-5? I'd like to pick one up but I'm broke. Maybe I'll just try one in store... ha.

I also would like to know this. (cheap calibers. I keep seeing some online for like $25...what a rip for a glorified ruler.)

If you want to do it cheap then go to your college's athletic center and have one of the TA's or whoever do it for you for free.

I have that exact model. It's ok, but I woulnd't recommend it. When I take measurements sometimes when I press the tab that measures my "fat", the button won't go off. Measurements can vary, by quite a bit. My BF level has always been around 8-11%, even when I gained 20 pounds to bulk up. The most critical part, I guess, is to always make sure you have the same spot, because the thickness of your skin can vary from place to place (especially the thighs).

Well I'm graduated now, but maybe they'll still let me in. Gas alone would be $3-4 though and I'm hoping to buy one for that.

Are they really necessary? Can't you just take a look and decide for yourself whether you're fat or not.

Find a "BodPod" locally... air displacement test. Very accurate and fast.

I only sort of want one because I'm concerned about losing any lean mass when trying to lose fat. It seems like it would be easier to track that then by just looking at myself in the mirror. I could say "x amount of lean mass, x amount of fat" and know what I was losing
