Guess for me: When will nVidia's next value line card come out?

There was a GeForce, then with the GeForce2 came the MX.

Do you guys think that with the NV25 there will be a low cost version?

The NV20 will probably cost too much for me....a GF2-Ultra is nearly $800 (canadian) that's way to much for a video card.

I'm looking at Value line cards...any ideas when we'll see one? The GeForce 2MX is the only card currently out that I'd consider and I don't really think it's that much better than my V3 (when T&L enabled games show up it will be but I'm happy enough with 60ish FPS in 800x600xHQ quake3) so I'm hoping for nVidia next card....

Just a note, I'm only really interested in nVidia cards at the moment:

ATi I don't trust...had a Radeon with horrid drivers...for all I know they'll drop driver support for the Radeon when the Radeon II comes out. Until I actually see a unified driver model from ATi I'm not considering them.

3dfx is dead, and Matrox seems to be ignoring the gaming Market.

That leaves with nVidia as my only choice, and if I was building a new system the sub $200 GF2MX (again canadian dollars) would be an excellent choice...I just don't think it offers a lot over my V3 at the present time....

If you are happy with 60fps at 800x600 in Quake 3 then get the Radeon which has BETTER image quality. Their drivers are getting better and it does not justify that their cards are bad at all.

who cares about nvidia latest/greatest rip off under the guise of the budget-value gamign card.

get a Kyro 64mb right now...has BETTER image quality than both the radeon and geforce (combined?..muahaa)

the geforce 2 pro is supposed to have an SDR model coming out, according to a news post by NSF4. its almost as cheap as an MX, comes with better RAM i think, and has an actual NV15 core instead of a slighty reworked NV10 core.

I'm interested in the Kyro, but I don't know how their driver support it...that website for PowerColor looked pretty lame and cheap, the english was pretty bad...you'd think that if they were a decent company they could at least hire someone that spoke english well to make their english website...I'm not saying that they have to speak english to be a good company...but you'd think they would at least be able to afford someone that speaks english to support their site...

I'm all for competition and I'm quite willing to consider an alternative to nVidia, but a high priority for me is good driver support. Does PowerColor have it?

try www.inno3d.com they have a version of the kyro. it's a better looking website. Their driver support is pretty good. i myself have a gefroce 2 gts. im probably about to sell it, im sick of the 2d and image quality, even though i have an elsa (which is supposed to be the best out of all the gts's..it still sux). im going for the kyro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Oh so the Kyro is just a chipset then?

I seem to have grossly mistaken then....I thought Power Color made the Kyro chip...who makes it, do they have reference drivers?

Q:Will STMicro be making and selling KYRO based boards or just the chips? I was under the impression that STMicro would make the actual chips, and then the AIB companies (e.g. Videologic Systems) mount the chips on their own boards, but it has been said on some previews that STMicro will be mounting the chips and then selling the actual finished boards to their customers.

A: ST is a semiconductor company. It will make the chips and then AIBs will use those for end user products.

there is a lot of confusion about the kyro. 3 comapnies that i know make the actual board for it. Videologic, Powercolor, and Inno3d.

STmicro and Imagination Technologies makes the chips. PowerVR is the name of the technology. Stmicro makes the chipset.

a good site with a lot of information is: HERE

hope i wuz of some assistance
