A community of Orthodox Jews have been expelled from their homes in a bitter conflict with hostile villagers.

Just a few months after fleeing from Canada amid allegations of child abuse, members of the Lev Tahor community were forced to leave San Juan La Laguna in Guatemala yesterday.

man, they just can't catch a break. why all them dressed like mooslims??!

why did they move to a town instead of starting their own town? sounds like the perfect thing to do for groups that don't want contact with others.

Miguel Vasquez Cholotio, a member of the elders' council, said the villagers decided to expel the group because they refused to greet or have physical contact with the community.
...
They left Canada amid allegations of child abuse and suspicions the group was carrying out underage marriages.

there's 1,000 acres israel just stole, oops i mean 'expropriated', from Palestine to build a new city. why can't they move there?

The article says that one of the members had been living in that town for several years now. I think what happened is that after the larger group was expelled from Canada in March, they all moved to join this smaller group of people that had established themselves already and, presumably, played nice with locals in that time, or were small enough in number to piss off only a few natives. A handful of cultish wackadoos is tolerable; a community of them, not so much.

Just to clarify, they weren't expelled. They fled the Chatham-Kent area to avoid investigation and possible prosecution. This was after they fled similar investigations in Quebec to come here.

I would peg them as more than Orthodox. The Lev Tahor are Ultra Orthodox wacko cultists, a Jewish Taliban.

They weren't expelled from Canada, they left because they were under investigation for the way in which they were raising their kids. They were in Quebec first and then left for Ontario when Quebec authorities began investigating them. The left Ontario for the same reason.

some background:

"In Canada, child protection bodies are examining claims of underage marriages, the alleged use of needless psychiatric medication, and a lack of healthcare and education for the group's children, according to the Toronto Star. Last year, more than a dozen were taken into care."

Is is the goal to put a secular despora on all people who are not jewish.

Jews want all the goy to move about the world like they do.

Nice selection of words there. Since when is abuse "for the way in which they were raising their kids."?

A 15 year old girl marring a 30 year old man is not raising your child, that is abusing your child.

a pregnant 17-year-old girl said she was beaten by her brother, sexually abused by her father and married by force to a 30-year-old man when she was 15.

It doesn't matter what religion these folks practice. It's their leaders that call the shots as to how their contractual obligations to their deity are interpreted and this is where things get "customized" to the whims of said "leaders".

In my eyes, uninformed as they are, these so called "Orthodox Jews" are on par with Jim Jones and his ilk, and have strayed way off the beaten path of their parent religion.

Calling them Jews is, IMO, a convenient misnomer. It seems to me their leaders have chosen to create a cult all their own.
