I have zero interest in this movie. TBH I don't understand any of the hype for it

It's Marvel, but a lesser known side of it to the general public.

Looks awesome... I'm stoked. I know absolutely zip about any of these characters and what's going on, so it's like it's a brand new IP to me.

Same here. Very first time I saw the trailer I thought wth is this. Saw more and more trailers and it looks freaking awesome. Marvel has been on a roll recently and even if this is halfway decent it'll be worth a watch. Should be some quick laughs to lighten the mood and some good action.

Out of all the summer blockbusters, this one is the one I'm looking forward to the most.

The others that seemed possibly interesting were Godzilla and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

However, it looks like I won't likely see any of them until they're out on Blu-ray.

Yeah, my favorites have been the ones with a good dose of humor mixed with the action. The 1st Iron Man has probably been the funniest of the new marvel movies and it's pretty much my favorite. This one looks even funnier which bodes well for my tastes.

If you like your Heroes to be a wise cracking, silly and deadly... then you may enjoy GOG.
If not... then not so much.

Looking forward to this one. I may try and see it this weekend since I have nothing better to do with myself.

This is more Iron Man than the dark world of Batman/Superman.

I had no interest at all when I first saw the trailers and it eventually grew on me. I have no idea what the story is about either so that helps compared to knowing a general background of all the other Marvel movies. Kinda crazy Marvel can pull stories out of their B and C heroes and make blockbusters out of them now.

Apparently, during the fight scene between Pratt and Saldana. Saldana nearly broke Pratt's ribs. They usually wore a protective vest, but on the day of filming Pratt forgot his and didn't tell Zoe, so she wouldn't hold back. That didn't exactly work out in his favor. =)

Personally, I am definitely looking forward to this movie. I like Pratt and he fits this type of movie perfectly. Plus, he is ripped in this! The best part is this is all leading up to Thanos!

Ok, so RT has a massively over-simplified scoring system possibly combined with the points I originally made :)

They just need a load of people to give it a score of at least 3/5 (which can be summed up as "average"), for the movie to look good.

yeah, RT is pretty bunk, the most accurate scoring system I've seen is IMDB's average (after any hype behind the movie as died down)

the opinion of single critics can be bought or swayed too easily, the masses not so easily.

RT is pretty much the best thing to go by. IMDB is garbage. The Dark Knight Rises is an 8.6? Really... It was better than Toy Story? I think not.

RT should be used as a simple "worth / not worth watching". And anything over say a 60% is generally worth seeing. It isn't trying to be the Oscars, nor it giving critics more power than they deserve. Giving a good movie a 1/10 is going to bring it's score down a lot more on something like metacritic. Critics love to be critics about stupid shit as well. Who gives a fuck if the lighting wasn't spectacular or the score wasn't "original enough". Was it a good movie: yes or no? That is all you need.

IMDB rating is automatically invalid since it has The Shawshank Redemption as the greatest movie of all time. D:

I'm quite familiar with Drax and Gamorra from back in the nineties, reading Surfer and all those Infinity whatsit comics, but they seem very, very different here. I'm sure a lot happened with their writing since then (I actually just discovered that I have some old GotG comics from then--as an Infinity War crossover--with unrecognizable characters--most likely all of them dead because no one cared?). I've heard that this franchise got a major reboot some time ago and managed to become popular.

Agreed. IMDB is useless. Youtube commenters have the same capacity for quality judgement.

That's nearly every superhero franchise that wasn't shit out by DC.

Superhero stories, I find, come off better when they don't take themselves too seriously and are constantly dark, brooding, super-serious emo fests.

As much as I enjoy the Batman flicks since Tim Burton and on (those being the best, of course), I don't think they are the greatest superhero stories.

32/33 now, still 97%.

The single negative review is one of their top critics, which makes it 5/6 positive out of the top critics, which is still decent. That means out of their admittedly limited pool (so far) of top critic reviews, it still has 83%.

Even Tim Burton's had some humor, albeit not a ton. Certainly, much better than Clooney Kilmer giant retarded luchador. And super serious lispy cookie monster music singer Bale wasn't a good Batman.

Marvel characters have character beyond their powers. Tony Stark is an interesting, alcoholic character. Same with Steve Rodgers, Bruce Banner, etc. The writers were able to humanize these extraordinary people beyond "has super powers" that DC spat out. Even Blade was interesting.

Man of Steel did a good job where pretty much all other DC movies failed. Young Clark Kent, and more so Kevin 'father Kent' Costner, did a great job at showing how Superman had to hide and choose his own path. Sadly, after Zodd showed up, the movie went down hill fast.

yeah, I really liked Man of Steel. Might even be my favorite DC-based superhero flick.

What was wrong with Zod? that guy was brilliant. Yes, it became endlessly smashy bang bang at that point, but it is Superman. It's the main issue with Superman: he's just too powerful and because of this, is pretty damn boring. As interesting as MoS is, he's still Superman. It's impossible to completely ignore the smashy bang smashplosions.

Nothing wrong with Zod. Michael Shannon rules!
