So does this mean that I can take my van (Bare KBB value of $1300!), strip all the valuables/reusables and go get $3000 trade for it, and put a down payment on a replacement?

My local KIA dealership did do a 'buy one, get one free' a few weeks ago though. They just charged double

Not always. They could be applying a manufacturers rebate to cover the $3000 as well, and not marking the cars up over MSRP.
 
Just print out the kbb page for the car you want. Tell them what you'll pay...if they don't give you what you want, walk. It's best if you make them give you a price before you tell them what you're going to trade. 😉

So distracted thinking about cars that you can't concentrate on learning the subject material?

Anyhow, the $3000 trade in is just a hook to get people in there with their POSs.

If you "forget" to mention that you have a trade that's really a $150 POS, hammer them for the best possible market price on the new-used vehicle, and then spring the trade on them, you'll find them backpedaling like hell with you trying to find a way to come clean with you that they can't POSsibly give you $3000 for a $150 POS at this point, because there isn't $3000 left to give.
