1280 Shaders instead of 1024, 192-bit (but slower memory so about the same bandwidth). I don't know how many ROPs it has, that could be the real kicker.

Likely 48 and it is simply the GTX 970M.

A slightly-crippled 970M? Still a tasty box and the benchmarks peg the 970M and GTX 960 desktop *very* close to each other. :thumbsup:

Price is too steep though... the Dell Alienware Alpha is half the price!

It's a Zotac mini-box... looks even smaller than the Alpha. It's GOT to be mobile.

Yeah, this has been known for a long time. It's a 970M soldered to the motherboard aka "960 OEM". It's not on a removable card, I was told. I haven't seen the insides, so I could be wrong.

A factory OCd 960 though will outpace the 970M ever so slightly. Reference clocks tend to be way too conservative.

But for sure, at the same perf level, the 970M is more efficient (perf/w) versus the 960. Due to the 50% extra vram width and 25% more cores.

Perhaps, though I wonder as to what, if any sort of power draw the dormant cores use.

A bit of a shame the GM206 didn't see more use in laptops though. On the desktop, it's middling at best, but in mid-end laptops would have been a fantastic performer. Would be an excellent match for the Macbook Pro too. Quite astonished Nvidia didn't push this heavily towards the laptop market, though I suppose lack of competition there will do that.
