gtx590 bottlenecked by 3 year-old processor?

and again with the resolution comment? 30 fps at 1280 or 30 fps at 2560 is still the same crappy experience.
Maybe that is the issue - i don't generally have problems with 30 FPS as a minimum.

At that point, i would much rather be playing at 2560x1600 with details maxed with the same framerate, than at 1280 with medium details.

nice try but I am taking about basically the SAME settings besides res. and 30fps was just an example as several games dip well below that. but hey if you want to get the same crappy minimum framerate with a $700 gpu and $1000 monitor that is great..

It's your unique experience.

i have been testing this with many systems and many dozens of games while you speculate about it with one system and two or 3 games that you haven't even provided good apples-to-apples benches for. 😛

FACT: the PC gaming experience depends mostly on the GPU as long as you have a reasonably fast dual-core Phenom II or Penryn to support it - and that includes the GTX 590 which i have been testing with Quad- and Dual-core since it came out.
