Isn't 90 °C the stock load temperature anyway? If it's stock then it's been tested to work at that temperature. I would try to run the fan higher since lower temperatures will help with longevity.

The reason I ask is that I am getting code crashes on my GTX580s but no crash on my other cards that run a lot cooler (e.g., Tesla). =\

Max spec says 97C, you could be looking at degradation though. Try raising the fan speed and increasing the voltage slightly.

How can I do that in Linux? Is it set in the bios?

You'll have to use a combo of nibitor and nvflash.

I don't know if nibitor has a linux version however.

Otherwise you can ask someone to make one for you.

Most of it is Windows based though, Linux is pretty bad when it comes to enthusiast oriented software support.

But if you have a Windows box you can use it to create your modified bios and then flash on any system with a bootable usb.

The hardware isn't mine, pretty sure they won't approve a BIOS flash not from the OEM.. =[

Kind of confused, they're not yours and they're not stable? What's your connection to the hardware, are you renting it from a company who is giving you remote access?

They're locked up in a sever room somewhere, I supposed I could get physical access.. but it'll still be a pain in the ass. Plus, flashing non-OEM BIOS is almost certainly never going to be approved.
