Hello all,

About to upgrade my GPU and need some advice. My gaming res is 1680x1050. Looking either to get the gtx570 or two 6870's(crossfire). At 1680x1050 res would I be better off with the single card or with the two 6870's? Would I notice any performance increase using the two 6870's as opposed to the single 570? Thanks!

What do you plan on playing? Solitaire? BF3? Something in between? What's the rest of your computer like? We can't answer your questions until you tell us that.

At 1680x1050 a single card is definitely preferable, dual-GPU just isn't needed for high settings and smooth framerates. I think GTX570 is overkill, it's over $100 more expensive than a 560 Ti which isn't too far behind in performance. I think 6950 2GB (for future 'compatibility' on 1080p with games that use a lot of VRAM) is the most that you should consider, while 560 Ti and 6950 1GB would be more cost effective choices.

I will be playing BF3...stuff along those lines. Thanks for the recommendations. I will check out the 560ti as well.

CPU: I2500k
RAM: 8gb ddr3-1600

In same cases you will see a noticeable difference going crossfire even at 1680x1050.

E.g. Metro 2033 @ 1680x1050, maximum IQ on all counts, I get typically around 50-55 fps with CF 6870'es and 20-30 fps with CF turned off.

To me that's the difference between a poor and a good gaming experience.
