Yeah i know another thread between these rivals but i'm looking at either for a good reason.

Recent published charts show first of all a gtx 560 non ti will not push the average 60fps i like in the upcoming BF3 and more like 43-50 and 60 or more is a must for me.

Second reason is the recent purchase of a insignia 37 inch t.v that does vga to 1920x1080 and now i game on this all the time.

I believe the gtx560 isn't flexing the muscles it used to and i find gpu usage is maxed out.

I'm not loyal to either amd or nvidia just whoever has stable drivers at this point and can offer more bang for buck.

Both cards at 1920x1080 do perform the same on these charts and i'm aiming more for the 6970 2gb cause i feel it might help on such a huge display?

So which would you think will be the more suitable card?:)

Well, BF3 is still in alpha testing. We aren't too sure exactly how it's going to perform with different GPU's yet.

As far as the size of the display goes, it's the resolution that matters, not the Inches^2. 1920*1080 is the same load no matter the screen size. So, it's going to come down to preferences. There's really no difference in performance to choose between overall. The 6970 does have 2GB of RAM, which is a plus. Finding one right now could be a problem, though. Supplies seem to be drying up.

The 2gb wont matter at all since it is still 1920x1080, even if the physical dimensions are different, it's still the same resolution you're used to seeing on monitors.

If they perform the same in the games you want to play, start looking elsewhere for incentives. Like output jacks you need/want, noise, PCB color, price, whatever. ;)

After playing the alpha I can tell you that those benchmarks are worthless. Performance was all over the place depending on a game patch or different video card drivers.

Wait till the retail game is out or possibly the open beta, and look at benchmarks then.

Yeah wasn't sure cause first time i hooked up the t.v and played some bc2 about 2 hours in it slowed down big time i had to exit it and i had a pop up about windows and slow performance.

Been getting this on occasion even on this monitor and it didn't happen testing a old 9800gtx with older drivers.

So figured bad drivers or perhaps the card?

Wait for the game to come out, there will likely be further price reductions on the 570, 6950 and 6970 by mid October.

For BF3 ? Id think the 6970 is the safer bet, simply because the extra Vram, and AMD working close with them getting in feature like eyefinity ect.

Definitely wait for it to come out. According to AMD, they'll have 28nm out pretty soon, so you might be able to upgrade to a next gen card while you're at it.

Def won't be using eyefinity just gonna have the pc hooked up to a single 37 inch t.v doing 1920x1080 and possibly later on a 46 or 50 inch.

So wasn't to sure if the extra vram of the 6970 would favor for this alone.

I'm not crazy for wanting this huge of a display for gaming am i?

My flatscreen got damaged in a move and i'm using a 19 inch dell crt that does 1600x1200 and have a hard time wanting to buy a new monitor as i got this t.v...

So you own a gtx 560 right now? Is it a 560 ti or just a plain 560?

Plain 560 yeah i know nvidia should have called it a Se or something or not release it all together.

No one messes up a naming scheme for a series of video cards like nvidia.

Naw, AMD has been catching heat for a ddr3 6670 in another thread for a couple of weeks. They both do it a lot.

Isn't sli gtx 560 still quite a bit faster than either gtx 570 or 6970?

The extra noise, heat and annoyances with nvidias latest drivers for me will make sli a nightname.

Plus this is the most quiet build iv'e done yet and a couple 560s in sli will defect the purpose and before long ill be buying another case worrying about thermals then i will have another loud pc lol.

I had a 6990 for a short time and crossfire 5770s and i hated the hell out of both.

Was not fun so i will most likely keep to the cool and quiet theme of the build with a single card.
