GTX560 Ti x HD6950 + Folding

hi,

I was quite sure to get the nvidia one, but then I saw some more graphs and I may have seen the AMD part is stronger. I'm a light gamer, but I do like Crysis family. And if I can play great graphs I may change this (I like FPS games).

but, OTOH, I do fold. and in this department, nvidia is better (although stanford is about to release a better core for AMD cards).

so, is the 6950 really a better pick on an i7 920 6GB ram ?

any input would be helpful, so 🙂

thanks,

matheus

I want to say get the 6950 because... flash it to a 6970 = nice value, then oc it abit and your looking at near stock 580 performance for pretty cheap. This is a good option if gameing performance is more important to you than folding.

But if you care about Folding@Home... 560ti does that better.

Which is more fun though? ~_*

Arkadrel: great info, this may change thing a bit. Any 6950 I buy may become a 6970 ? cause it is really faster for me 🙂 How can I know it will work (if it is possible to know ...) ?

thanks,

matheus

post this on the DC forums, there are tons of folders there, many of whom know exactly how much credit each type of card can get you. They'll probably even know when the amd update is coming out, and possibly can at least give you a guess as to whether that will bring it up to parity with nvida finally.
