Wait, they are rebadging a 460 and calling it a 560?

EXPReview claims it's GF114 based, not GF104.

With CPU's I'm not aware of cases where they take an older chip and give it the same name as a newer chip.

In this case a unit from the 560 line could be GF104 or GF114 based. I believe it is intentional to create confusion and raise prices.

Wasn't there a Nvidia 9xxx card that was a higher priced version of an 8xxx card? It was a while ago so I don't recall the details, but I think the cards were identical except in price?

This may be basically the same thing, albeit with a bit higher clocks.

Edit: Happy may have had a brain fart, even Fud is saying GF114 based. So this is not an overclocked 460.

8800gts512>9800gt>9800gtx>9800gtx+>gts250

nvidia is the rebranding king. They're still pushing the 8800gt around even today. Change the clock speed here and there and keep pumping them out.

Not a big deal with this card if it costs the same as a 460.

Well, at least on paper it will be exactly the same as a gtx460, just refined I guess.
Kinda like the gtx480 vs the gtx570.

ah, so that's why they didn't release gtx 460 cards with official overclocks.

pretty shady.

technically, all of those cards were extremely similar but they at least had slight differences. Both camps have actually in the past just changed the name on the card without making any other changes at all (8800gt -> 9600 gso ?). At least in this case they have a newer architecture and/or faster clocks so it's possible and even likely that the newer card will be better.

Huh? gtx 460 was crippled so that it wouldn't compete with/beat gtx 470. And how many AMD cards have "official" overclocks?

-Then you need to be introduced to the Phenom 2 x4 840, which is actually just an Athlon 2 and has absolutely nothing to do with the Phenom line at all.

Anyhow, Nvidia "needed" to fill that giant ass gap between the 560Ti & the 550 (I say "needed" because the abundance of GTX460's were doing just fine), so here it is. Whatever I'll take new videocard releases where I can get em, even if they are as unexciting as this one.

More importantly, they will fill the gap between the 6850 and 6870, with a cooler running, quieter card (compared to the gtx460), that should overclock over 1000 core for about 180$.

I think these are pretty good guesses.

This card could shake up some prices in the mid range market.
