Hi hopefully somebody can give me some advise regarding the gtx550ti 6gb.
my friends son just bought his first pc on a budget. hes only 15 so didnt have much money to spend and the unit so it was pretty low spec.
my question is - i have been looking online for a cheap upgrade for his graphics card (as he has very little funds to spend and is really dissapointed with the performance of the gtx 1050 2gb)
i have come across the gtx550ti 6gb for £100 but i can not find any benchmarks for the 6gb version, they all seem to be for the 1gb and 2gb versions.
firstly is this a genuine graphics card or a overclocked scam and would it be a improvement on his gtx1050 as it has 4gb more ram?

this is a link to the graphics card on ebay so you can see the spec

i hope its ok to post the link as its for refference and im not trying to sell anything

Apparently the 550 Ti is a scammer favorite according to Wikipedia. I doubt it actually has 6 GB. Plus Fermi is so old nVidia doesn't even support it anymore.

more than likely it's a scam. I can't find any information on a 6GB model being made. All are 1GB.

Besides, a GTX550 Ti will perform worse than a 1030 any day. Drivers will have to be old versions to even recognize the card.

Depending on how much money your buddy has to spend, and the power output of the power supply in his PC, I'd recommend looking at cards from a bit way back like the 970/980/980TI from Nvidia or cards like the 290/290x/390/390x/Fury cards from AMD.

They are all fairly old cards, and require a decent amount of power to run, but are still decent upgrades from a 1050 2gb all the same.
