GTX480 = 2x GTX460 performances?

Would it be that much of the jump in 2d/3d performances?
Or roughly 50%-100%, depending on games in 1900x1200 resolution?
I just bit on the MSI 480 card + two new games (Metro2033+Mafia2) for < $370 (AR)
I game mostly in Flightsim & FPS.
Thanks for any feedback.

from what i have seen 2 1GB 460's are usually better than a single 480. And if you get a good overclock on the 460's they will defiantly be better than a single 480. That said there is something to be said for going with the single card solution.

Honestly i would have went with a single 480 a few weeks ago when i did my upgrade(went to i7 and GTX460, from AMD system with 4890) but then my car broke down, so i had to go with the cheaper 460 and will go SLI in a month or two when i can afford it.

I think a single card would probably offer a better gaming experiance overall, dont need to worry about scaling issues(not that SLI is bad compared to CF but it still isnt perfect) or micro stutter.

Scaling issues for the most part are nonexistent. Virtually any modern system intensive game will be supported just fine in a dual card setup. Any game that doesn't work effectively with two cards would almost certainly be old enough to not even push one of the cards much. The very nature of the GTX 480 defeats the main advantage of a single card over a dual card which is power and heat efficiency so you don't lose anything by going with dual 460s over the 480 in the long run.

From the link provided, the benchmark indicates roughly from 20-50% gain from a 460 single card vs 480 by comparison.
Since this is a HTPC environment, I prefer one single card config due to various reasons, noise, and heat, primarily.
I agreed a 460 SLI config would beat a single 480 any time.
