GTX285 Fan Profiles?

So I finally got a 55nm GTX260 and its great & much quieter than I expected but now I'm thinking about stepping up to the GTX285 and was wondering what the fan profiles are for those cards. My GTX260 is @ 40% almost all the time and I don't think it ever goes above 50% (Which is no louder than my case and fans).

For those who have a GTX285 card:

What are the fan profiles like compared to what I have now? Also, please state if you have a stock version card or if its an over-clocked card because I just plan on ordering a stock EVGA GTX285.

Thanks ~

I have an XFX GTX 285. It also runs at the standard 40% and is not noticeable in my system. It starts to become noticeable around 50%. I tried running it at 100% just for giggles, it was quite loud. I've left it on auto and never hear it while playing Far Cry 2, Frontlines- Fuel of War or Test Drive unlimited at 1920x1200 res.

It's temperature sensitive. If you run a game at 16Q AA the fan is probably going to be on at 100% all the time. For regular settings the card probably won't go beyond 60%. This is based on my experience with the evga 285.

Sounds like the BIOS profiles are all the same for GTX parts on AUTO settings. Mine idles at 40% as well and gradually scales up to ~60% max, which is pretty much inaudible over existing case fans. I actually have a manual Precision profile set to 70%, which is audible, but drops temps significantly. At 60%, some games will get to 80-85C which is a bit high for my preferences especially since I overclock. Increasing 70% will drop temps back down to the low 70s. If you want to create a custom profile, I believe RivaTuner allows you to although I haven't used RT since Precision came out. The other option would be to modify the BIOS using something like Nibitor to change the fan duty cycle thresholds.

I have a stock EVGA GTX285 and the stock fan profile is at 40% and goes up slowly much too slowly I often find that when I leave everything alone and don't OC the card hits the low 80's...

But when I proceed with the OC in my sig which is how I play most of my games, I also bump the fan up to 80% and it stays @ 73 or less.

Damn I can barely stand the fan at 50% you guys have pretty good tolerance for noise.

I had my 295 going to 100% past 75c but things were too noisy, so now it wont go to 100 until 90c, which doesn't really happen easily as it steps up incrementally so that it can comfortably hang around 85c and is much quieter than previously at 75c.

My GTX295 never gets anywhere near them temps...it idles at 47/50 degrees to a max of 65 degrees when gaming for hours at a time. I monitor this alot with nVidia System Tools (Cracking Piece of Software) on nvidia site (not that nTUNE crap)

Granted I have a High End case with much emphasis on AIRFLOW and have the 250mm Side Panel blowing air directly onto the GPU. The side panel on the Kandalf shifts an amazing amount of air and spins slowly as the fins are so large...I mean the top fan on the Antec 1200 is only 200mm.
