OK, I started this thread after resolving my other one. Now that I have a stable working GTX 1080 folding, I wanted to share my observations. I got the card based on preliminary results that show it could do 800k PPD or better. I don't see that. Here is what I DO see. It has performance similar to a GTX 980TI when running at almost 2000 mhz (my factory overclock using the EVGA software). It uses a little less power, the same as a GTX 980. The system its in is a Dell T3500 with a E5570 3 ghz CPU. The total system draw per kill-a-watt is 340 watts with CPU and GPU at full power doing F@H. In the same system my AMD 290 was taking 400 watts, and that with a HX750 Corsair PSU (not the ultimate in efficient power). I could change it, but my AX850 was showing similar results on the last system, but at a lower performance level.

Please feel free to comment, and ask questions. Kind of pissed, as I expected more, and now 980TI's are at $400 for the same performance. and almost the same power draw..

I would say wait for better drivers, as the drivers they have released are really gaming oriented and therefore CUDA, OpenCL compute is not optimised

Something happened overnight (I did nothing) its now at 795k on a 21 core unit.

But one of my 980ti's is doing 867k on a core 21

I skimmed through the thread at folding forum again, and noticed that there was quite a large variation in PPD which means it will definitely depend on which WU you are getting.

Yup, I have had it go from 450k to 827k, depending on the WU. But the bottom line is that the 980ti is at least the same if not better for folding at almost 1/2 the price (now 379)

My 980ti (OCed @1474) has never hit 800k for any WU, and averages somewhere between 600 to 700. Prices are not based on folding performance, so yeah, definitely 980ti is a great deal right now.
