Wait for AMD. Stacked memory is gonna be good, and they have tended to scale better to high resolutions lately.

Depends on if you have a pressing need to do some gaming between now and whenever AMD or NVIDIA releases something else. Both 980 Ti/1080/Whatever + 390X are vaporware. There's a lot of speculation but nothing concrete from AMD about it and nobody knows when it will be released. The so-called 980 Ti has not been confirmed by NVIDIA and also has no scheduled release date.

If you want the best right now and plan to play new games like Witcher 3, GTA V etc, then grab a Titan X and OC it and get the second in May. It will easily last you two to three years.
