i dont think a titan is really worth 1k. be better off saving some coing and going with 670 sli or 7970 cf. i havent really looked into 690 performance but even that would be more cost effective than a titan. just my opinion.

I think if I will get dual cards it will add more heat in my room. Just gaming and I want to use the nvidia 3d vision of the monitor..

GTX Titan's core is pretty underclocked, you can get a free 15% overclock pretty much and at that point it's pretty close to a GTX 690 at ideal conditions. On the other hand, when SLI isn't working (which happens alot with release titles), Titan will be running in circles around a 690.

I would love to see those benchmarks where Titan beats a gtx690 or gtx680 SLi in any situation where SLi is working.

Look up review sites that test frame latency instead of just average frame rates. Titan can beat a GTX 690 in many cases when SLI is working.

The 690 will give better outright performance, but Titan will probably give you more consistent performance, less power draw, and a quieter experience. Crossfire is a major hit or miss proposition, I would avoid it until AMD proves it's frame delivering times are solved.

If I was spending $1000 on a video card solution, I'd probably go with a single Titan over the 690.

The key is which sku would provide a better 3d experience?

That's an excellent question posed by the OP to me!

I would go with the powerful single GPU -- consistent frames, more ram. If it was just 120hz gaming at 1080P may lean toward the GTX 690 but for gaming with 3d as well? Titan!
