Hello.

I have an MSI GT72 2QE Dominator Pro laptop which is great for me so far and I have no plans to buy a new one.

It has a i7 4710HQ processor. 16GB 1600mhz DDR3. 128GB SSD (upgrading to 4x250gb raid SSD soon)

However I have the 4GB GTX 980M MXM card. I have the option to send my laptop to MSI to upgrade from 4GB MXM graphics card to 8GB MXM graphics card for not a huge amount of money.

I game on a 144hz 1080p monitor. I have no plans to go higher resolution but maybe one day.

Is there any chance a game might come out where 8GB would actually give me an advantage over 4GB?

If not with 1080p (why not please 😛) then how about with over 1080p?

Not sure if I can be bothered to send my laptop going halfway across Europe to MSI repair centre. Could be weeks without gaming.

I'm playing a game now and my VRAM usage is between like 3.47 GB-3.6GB. Seems awfully close to 4gb! I think people might be wrong when they say 4GB will never be too little for 1080p!
