GTX 970 Compatible with P8Z68-V PRO (non Gen3!)

I want to buy a Nvidia GTX 970 video card (Asus, Msi or other company). Will this graphics card be compatible with mij Asus p8z68-V Pro motherboard (not Gen 3!). Many people ”think” it will but I’m looking for someone who actually tried it’s compatibility. I know the 700 series works using this motherboard but these cards are getting expensive rapidly.

Works fine.

I'm running my GTX970 on my MIVG-Z board right now (GAME in sig below,) works like a champ. Make sure your PSU can handle it...
 
Generally - all graphics cards work with all motherboards.

Exceptions - real old motherboards (real old) with newer graphics cards.
