How's this compared to the XFX 270X DD for $130 from bestbuy?

It's only a little bit better than a normal 270X, can't say much for a XFX DD version but it beats a reference R9 270X card by 2-4fps. I still believe a GTX 750ti is still the best budget card out and can be had well under $100

270X is on average 16% faster than a 950 at 1080P but the differences could vary greatly -- ie., if you play Anno 2205, Project CARS, FO4, 950 will do well.

Something to think about is if you have an AMEX, you can add a cheap $1 filler, grab a $200 GTX960 4GB, use $25 off $200 AMEX deal, and send the $20 rebate, you end up with a GTX960 4GB for $201 - $25 - $20 = $156.

I disagree completely. 750Ti is overhyped and slow. Its performance is horrendous compared to 950/960/370/280/280X. There is no way that saving $25-30 for a 750Ti is worth it. What you save now will cost you greatly in all future games. It's never worth it to save $25-30 to lose 20 fps+ or in some cases almost half the performance when compared to the 950.

Frankly, if someone wants the best budget gaming card in the $100 realm, they are going used HD7950/7970. An overclocked 7970 will be 2X faster than a 750Ti and have 50% more VRAM.

I don't know how anyone can still be recommending 750Ti with 950/R9 270X at $125-130. 750TI = outdated on day 1. Might as well spend a little bit extra.

That might be the one... for the HTPC! Think I might wait for BF, though... I'd love a full length one with twin fans.

The 750 sucks. It would have been a better buy last year but you aren't going to be playing any current games on it.

Great budget card, way better than a 750Ti for not much more $.
Unless you need a card that doesn't require extra power, which was really the only reason ever to get the 750 Ti in the first place...

GTX 750ti [...] can be had well under $100
Where? I have no interest in gaming, but for $80-ish, I'd be interested in one for for playing around with CUDA-based GPU acceleration on an older PC with a just-big-enough PSU that I don't want to bother replacing. But while I see the 750 Tis occasionally dip below $100 with a rebate, I've never seen them go what I'd call well below $100, even on sale and with a rebate...

The short ones don't.
Which short ones, the short 750 Tis with single fans? That's what I was referring to when I said not needing a 6-pin connector was really the only reason to ever have seriously considered those cards over others. That, or having a seriously under-powered machine, even if it has a PCIE power plug, whose PSU you don't want to, or for some reason can't replace. But it wasn't as if the card was ever a particularly powerful one in general, just powerful for the amount of power it draws...
