Gtx 770 lower than avg. fps?

So I've recently picked up a gtx 770 by gigabyte, the windforce 3x! I've played through Metro LL and went back to test out my fps out of curiosity. Looking at the nvidia website, they claim to get around 60 fps with a reference gtx 770. i did some tests and found that my avg. fps was around 35. I also did a little more searching on other websites and found one that used the exact same card and they also got around 60. I used the settings they used during the benchmark and again I only got around 35-40 fps. I have 8gb of ram, and an i5 2500k running at stock speeds (will change that soon).

Can someone elaborate on my situation? Is it my CPU thats causing the difference that I'm seeing? Or is it something else?!

When you mention "same settings" do you have identical configurations and game settings used in those reviews?

well they never mentioned which CPU they were running...so thats what lead me to believe that the CPU was causing the difference. Would it be causing a difference if both my cpu and gpu are running at 100%?

IIRC cpu makes a difference in metro LL, check the gamegpu.ru review.

Yeah something is wrong. I'm getting results equal to cards around the gtx 660s!! Not pulling any numbers close to what they're showing for the 680 which I'm using as a reference since the 770 isn't on there. I know I'm using a different processor, but can it make THAT much of a difference as Jay mentioned?

EDIT: The speeds on my cpu and their cpu are the same ~3.3, though theirs is an i7, is there a performance difference there?

No I don't think so.But just to test if you oc your card to 4Ghz does your fps improves? also check the gpu load via gpu-z.

Make sure you have the exact same settings. Depending on the site, a few reviews will turn down settings (and only make one or two footnotes about it).

I was getting 30~ frames with a 7970 Ghz in Metro 2033. A 770 should be right around the same power as that.

I believe it's tesselation that killed frames in Metro 2033. Turn it off and FPS doubles.

Test the card on a benchmark that has more easily defined settings.

Try the Unigine Valley benchmark and compare it to the results in the thread on this forum.

i have the same issu with my card! not getting my moneys worth!
ive been serching around and etheir the card is crap or were bottle necking some how
somewere! now in my case its etheir my cpu( witch would suprise me) or my motherboards pci-e slot! being pci-e2.0 and not benafiting from the cards pci-e 3.0! just a thought! what dose everyone think?

Reduce resolution and see if you get an increase in fps. If you don't, then it's the CPU. The pcie2.0 isn't going to be a noticeable bottleneck.

Yup test in unigen valley, use the default extreme setting and compare.
Agreed. Start with something where it's easier to get a direct comparison. If your performance seems comparable there, then take a closer look at Metro LL.
