Decided to grab one. Last time I was in the market for a popular graphics card they sold out rather quickly then came back on the market a month or two later for an additional $50. I don't want to get burned like that again.

Which one did you grab?

I want to clarify my understanding of turbo boost 2.0 and how it affects performance: what I understand is that given TDP and temperature headroom, the 760 will boost Core Clocks (and from Anands review I can see that it is always 1100MHz+). But is this consistent? I mean does the ambient environment play any role? What if my room temperatures are 40-45 Celcius?

As long as the card itself doesn't exceed 80 degrees, then the boost should remain constant I believe. Lower ambient temperatures will obviously help to keep the card at a lower temp..

Why? Its performance and noise levels are better than GTX680/770 Lightning.

The MSI gaming is uber quiet and runs just 1*C hotter than the Asus DCUII model

Loudnes (db) numbers are not entirely useless, but are often misleading.
What you want is perceived loudness (sone) weighed against your own ear. Quite impractical, right?

Twin Frozr has a decent heatsink, but I'm really not a fan of its fan, as it's too sensitive to dust and not as silent as it's advertised.
Blades braking or rattling sound is not unheard of too.

This card is HOT, if you are in a hot room you will be screwed. The custom cooled models will be better at least in a well ventilated case, but with 40-45C ambient this thing will cook. Ambient and ventilation have a huge effect. Boost drops clocks to keep them under 80C, and the well ventilated review cases are hitting 80c+ and oc mid 80s.

I wouldn't recommend it, for such high ambient temperatures I'd go with the coolest card I could find. Boost will be dropping the clocks severely too when it's hitting 90C+ due to your ambient temps.

Damn nice looking card for 250 if I hadn't bought a 7950 for 300$ 3 months ago I would have bought this. My bro wants me to build him a more budget oriented computer going to have to get this if he wants it soon.

I went with the EVGA overclocked and ACX cooler. It seemed like I could find 5 articles each claiming a particular brand was the best, so I just pulled the trigger on this one to avoid stressing out. If it ships today (it says it's packaging right now) I should get it on Friday.

----

Edit: There's a 4GB EVGA listed now, although I've seen some comments (not that I'm vouching for it personally) that this card probably wouldn't push the resolutions that would need 4GB anyways. (?)

Oh boy
I think it's time to upgrade my GTX 275 and get ready for all the new console ports.

I should invest in something to stream the video signal to my TV in the other side of the room...

EDIT:

Wait, between this and the 7950, if I can get them for the same price, which one should I pick?

I think you're right. 4GB would be for multi-monitor setups and one 760 won't have the horsepower for that.

However, if you're looking for an SLI setup they might be ideal.

you should always list all of your other specs in detail when asking for gpu advice. that includes exact power supply and resolution you want to play at.

There's an MSI with Twin Froza IV up now, seems to get good reviews for staying the coolest and getting the most out of Boost 2.0.

Oh sorry I thought I had them in my signature.

CPU: i5 3570k
GPU: GTX 275
RAM: 8GB DDR3
PSU: Corsair AX760

My resolution will be 1920x1080 at all times.
Did I forget anything relevant ?
