GTX 760 EVGA SC vs MSI TFIV GAMING

MSI Gaming. Having said that with R9 280X at $299-310, HD7970 1-1.05Ghz cards at $270, and HD7950 at $199, unless you are going SLI or really want the Batman game on launch date, the 760 isn't a good value.

There is even the MSI TwinFrozr 7970BE with 1050/5500mhz clocks for $268.

Even without Mantle, 760 is getting beaten by 34% by 7970GE/R9 280X in BF4 beta:

Yeah, if you're set on on a 760 then get the MSI. I have the MSI 760 4GB and it's definitely a solid card and overclocks well. However, had I known AMD was about to release a card with the value that the R9 280X offers.. I probably wouldn't have purchased the 760 at all.

Of course, for most people BF4>SC

Call of Duty Ghosts may be different though since Nvidia will have better optimizations I imagine since they helped fund the game.

*disclaimer - this post was meant to be taken lightly, even though I do think the 760 is still a good buy*
 
Teizo but in SC:B the 760 is winning by less than 2 fps but in BF4 the R9 280X is winning by 11 fps. There are very few games where 760 will beat R9 280X by more than 10% but a heck of a lot more when R9 280X will beat 760 by 20-25%.

At 1600p gaming the 760 completely runs out of juice and is losing by nearly 30% which means it won't fair as well for future games either.

In NV-favoured games 760 barely wins or is matching R9 280X but in games where AMD is leading, it's whopping the 760 by 20-30%. For $50 more the R9 280X is a no brainer as the 760 performs more like a $199 7950 but R9 280X/7970GE performs more like a $399 770 and R9 280X has more VRAM (+Mantle might boost performance even more).

I know. My post was mostly a joke. I do think the 760, especially the MSI Gaming and Asus Direct Cu, are still good buys considering power/heat/noise and, yes, performance though. They could use a $20-$25 price drop perhaps, but I would expect a $300 card to out perform and $250 card.

The BF4 Beta results don't bother me too much because Nv will eventually get their drivers optimized much better and bring things closer to average.

But, like I say....my post was mostly a joke. This forum is being waaayy to serious atm. People are getting butt hurt over the simplest of things. I just wanted to try to lighten things up a bit.
 
I like MSI card as much as anyone, but after reading the Gigabyte 760 review here on Anandtech, they seems to preform very well on the GTX 760's. I personally think the Gigabyte Windforce coolers are among the best on the market.

I have dealt with both, and I will say Evga's was quicker, but MSI is not bad at all. Their GPU 3yr warranties are serial based and easy to apply for an RMA. Turn around time took about 2-3 weeks for me - Kinda long..

Yes, they are very good.

I forsee 2 R9 280X's in your near future perhaps. If I didn't have these 760s already, even though I am happy with them and I think they are good cards....that is probably what I would get.

Gotcha. I wasn't trying to be too confrontational. Your posts are always in a constructive and informative manner. :thumbsup: The reason the forum is serious right now is because a lot of us are fed up by high prices of GPUs and when we see people that only buy one brand of GPUs defend high prices, it's frustrating because ultimately high prices aren't good for us as a trend. The only way for the industry to change is for people to stop overpaying.

😀 the R9 280X would be a side grade for me at best. I am gonna sit 28nm out and wait for 20nm. I plan on going to 1440P at some point and if the two 7950's can't keep up then..... well we will see... :sneaky:
