Does the 690 have 4GB of VRAM?

If it has 2GB of VRAM, that might be holding you back at 4k.

You picked one of the most demanding games of 2015 and 4K monitor? You'd need 980Ti SLI OC to hit 50-60 fps on Ultra.

In more demanding areas, even 980Ti SLi is below 50 fps on UQ @ 4K.

The first thing you should do is disable HairWorks but even then GTX690 is too slow and is VRAM gimped.

the good news is 1080p should scale perfectly on a 4k monitor?

reduce to 1080p and profit

engage 30fps vsync for a fully locked cinematic experience

on 4k tvs that have that setting then sure it wont look too bad but that myth has never panned out on monitors. the lower you go below native the worse it looks and nothing magical happens automatically at 1/4 the pixels on a 4k monitor despite what some people claim. 1080 on a native 4k monitor will look like crap compared to 4k.

If you bought a 4k monitor, you really weren't attempting to use 1080p that much if at all. Future fields comment is a Comment from a person who is ok with such console gaming type endeavors.
