Except that there's already been a post about this, it is interesting to see that it's listed for $200 above msrp, and just like the 680 there aren't any.

It's a pretty interesting thought/topic imo. I didn't see the other post so this could be terminated regardless.

There wasn't another thread about it, AFAIK. It was just a post in another thread. I think it's a legit topic. If no one cares, it'll fall off the page to a natural death. I wouldn't lock it though.

And I don't intend to lock it as long as everyone stays on topic and behaves themselves. On that note we do have a review thread, so this thread should really stick to supply issues only

so is this thread about the gtx690 being on newegg but out of stock? or is this about it being 1200 bucks? or both?

To me its interesting simply because you can get "auto notify" from evga about two different models (when I checked yesterday). Both of which are listed at a lower price directly from evga...

I mean if it was actually in stock... its pretty sad you could buy it direct from the manu.. cheaper.

Newegg did the same thing with the Asus 5870 x2 a few years ago. They got a decent amount of these cards that people were going to kill over and priced them at $1200 with a combo purchase. Then finally they dumped the combo purchase requirements. The item was supposed to be $1000 MSRP.

Newegg listed the Asus Ares as a 5870 x2 card. I specificlly remember thinking it was supid but that's how it was marketed because it came over clocked past the 300 watt limit.

Sapphire also had two 4GB versions of the 5970, the toxic version was over clocked similar to the Areas and sold for around $1000. It was also a limited launch product.

I cant believe people have the money for JUST a gpu. I probably have less than that in my whole system, even buying the components when they were pretty up to date.

I wonder how much a mars 3 will cost if they ever make one. $1500+?

That's encroaching Quadro territory.
