GTX 650 Ti "throttling" in tests @ <60c

I switched camps to the green team and got a GTX 650 Ti. The card is slightly factory OC'ed (966 Core, +41) at stock voltage. I decided to sit down and see what this could do.

I downloaded MSI Afterburner, Kombustor and Furmark. I added the EULA for Afterburner and started bumping the core clock but every time I test for stability both Kombustor and Furmark report that the GPU is throttling (have yet to break 60c) starting at 985 Core.

For instance, the stock clock is 966, I increased the clock by 34mhz and both programs reported throttling back to 992 instead of 1000.

Normal? Am I just nitpicking? Starting to think I should have stayed with AMD and grabbed a 7770 Vapor-X and used Trixx.

Use another program.
Nvidia and AMD throttle in furmark. They don't want you to play furmark.
I have a 660, and note the behavior you are mentioning. It won't occur in other games.
Try unigene Heaven or Valley for testing

Thanks Notty, I'm downloading Unigine Heaven now.

Two more questions:

Is there a better program to use for Nvidia cards than Afterburner?

The "Power Limit" is locked (grayed out). Is there anyway to unlock it? Did I miss a setting?

I use evga precision x
http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/precisionx_dowload_evga.html

I'm not sure if that model supports raising TDP. It might not cap the TDP, because it does not use Turbo. Check out the reviews for 650ti at TPU, the latter ones will have the avg o/c's for tested models.

"Power Limit" is non accessible in Precision X too, oh well, that sucks. Precision X is also reporting the throttling reducing my core clock.

Really starting to regret this purchase.
