GTX 580: Black Ops Edition

best looking card so far I think... I dont understand why they all want flashy babes on their cards or something like that. That Weapons Shield with a skull+berret on head, is much more strikeing visually than most of those babes on cards.

don't really understand why people care what the card looks like seeing as its gonna be stuffed in a case

Personally I don't care too much but a card like the black ops would have great resale value once you're done playing with it. That's what I like about superclocked editions and other cards like it.

It has a certain coolness factor to it.
If most don't know , it can release certain natural chemicals in your brain, that make you feel good ! And its all legal, and something people chase after. lolz
Evga tries to be a little different, they treat their customers pretty well in terms of support. Many have probably talked to the geeks in their video's.

Babes, skulls, crazy sci-fi looking robot warriors, it's all the same to me. Seriously, who buys a card based on its sticker? :hmm:

Why do they make some memory modules look so cool? Its marketing. Apparently some people like to shop based on looks or they wouldn't do it. While it's not personally my cup of tea, if I have two similar products it is human nature to choose the "prettier" one. I do like pretty PCBs for my MB, even though I don't look at it too often. *shrug*

Well, sure, it's to impress your average customer who doesn't know squat about specs, but this is an enthusiast tech forum, we aren't fooled by such gimmicks.

I'll take a hot pink XFX with double lifetime warranty over a "cool" design every time. 😉

I disagree. I like the idea of a hot babe entertaining me night after night.

Yeah, hot pick sounds totally sweet. Oh, no I see what you mean, go for card with the best performance, not looks. Can't think of an anlogy.

Cars would be good. Veyron looks like a pig, Ferrari 458 looks exquisite, but we know which is faster.

Maybe not a analogy, but irony ?
A XFX video card in a gun case for 1200 dollars ?

The obvious point I was trying to make is that the double lifetime warranty is a feature that's actually worth buying for, not the sticker on a card or the box/case it's shipped with.

Unless you were being sarcastic... :hmm:

I know the point you were trying to make. Looking past the 'stickers' or 'color' at tangibles. For you that might be the warranty.
I'm sure like many here, I can put it all in to perspective, including stickers, ad gimmicks, warranty claims and prioritize importance.
Its not that difficult. I put component selection and cooling choice highest. Weigh that with my impression of the company putting that product out. And take in to account what cards have failed, on me.

Back to Black Ops, people hear about the Easter eggs in the opening menu, there are some cool things hidden there, the complete Zork game. It was mentioned the other night in the Big Bang Theory.
I remember playing it at a friends house on the Commodore 64. I think we played it online with a modem cradle !
