Hey guys, I just upgraded from an ECS 8800GT to an MSi GTX 570. For fun, I took some comparison pics of their physical attributes. I am curious, is there any website that would show a direct comparison of an 8800GT and a 570 in terms of general performance and power consumption, etc.?

NO ,but I can tell you the gtx570 uses about, 1.8x more power, and will give you about 3.4x more performance.

Gotta love that accelero cooler. What a great investment that turned to be...

Most review sites only use the last generation of cards to compare to the new gen.

It would be extremely laborious to include new cards on older games due to how often the games that are benchmarked change.

Hell, it seems like apoppin stays up for a week straight with no sleep just to test the current round of games for a review, let alone testing new cards on old games, or old cards on new games!

theres one thing wrong with that benches. look. look at the resolution. 1080p the cpu plays more of a part. If you want the show the true performance of a gpu put it on the 2560 resolution where the cpu plays less of a role.

I think those benches at 1080P is exactly what cards should be used for that res.

Comparison can't work and those statistic are worthless.Because a 8800 GT would bottleneck any recent CPU and the 570 take advantage of it.

So it's not really the difference between a 8800 GT and a 570 but more the difference between a 10/10/07 computer and a 01.12.10 computer.

The biggest difference it's the more advanced technology and not the performance.Newer videocard will read newer technology much faster because they're build for doing exactly this.

Those statistic tell me exactly nothing.Your newer rig will play older game at retarded amount of fps but it''s more the whole package rather than the gpu.

Welcome to the forums....

I dont quite get your logic.
I once had a 8800gt in my rig, in fact it had the same VGA cooler. :)

My computer was built about 2 years ago with the 8800gt.
Since then I have not changed a thing except my video cards.
My computer plays games allmost 3x faster then before at higher settings.
If I bought a gtx570 today ,I bet my performance would still increase with the same 2 year old system with any given game, especially Crysis..

In short, the gpu was the bottleneck in my system and still is today.

Nvidias own enthusiast site often throws in 8800gt results in it's benchmark tests, along with the more contemporary cards.

8800gt was a classic card as great as the 8000 series was we ended up with hacked up rebadges for the next year or 2 was it?9500gt 9600so 9800 gt 9800gtx oh yeah the best thing that came out of the 9000 series was the dual slotted 9800gtx that couldnt cook a egg and the 9800gx2 i had a 8800gts512 and i skipped that entire 9000 series till the gtx280 came out,and then we had it all over again the gtx260 core version the gtx285 oh yeah we follow the trend still with the 400 and 500 series and lol dirk oh yeah im pretty sure a 8800gt has somewhat of a chance with a gtx570 in comparasion im guessing the 8800gt was their stepping stone huh?they forgot about the 8800gtx lol
