GTX 570 release date decemeber 7 Rumour

Niiiiice. If it's not a crazy loud heat pumping device I think this might be the card I end up jumping towards.

I don't see any reason they won't put the new vapor chamber on this card as well which should keep both of those under control.
 
Soo whats the deal, the GTX 580 retails for 599 or 499. The 570 will be 300 to 350 dollars ???

I hope its not power hungry like the GTX 480 ,, I dont know much about power usage of a GTX 580.

Or this will come out and the 470 and 460 prices will drop even more.

Clicking the link in the link list the TDP of the 570 @ 225 watts vs 250 watts on the 480, which is 10 watts more than the 470 @ 215.
 
December 7th sounds great. If the part is around a 225w TDP, then Nvidia shouldn't have any problem downclocking two gtx570's by ~60mhz and putting two of them on 1 PCB for an x2 card while staying within the 300w PCIe spec.

Thank goodness. The 470 while fast was not a good card. I am hoping the 570 is faster, cooler and quieter. Then I jump ship.

Sounds like it will have 480 level performance with power draw less than the 470.

And the SLI performance will be interesting to see. The 560 and 570's may be the next 8800gt's.

They would have done that with the 470 if they could since its rated at 10W less then that 570.
 
There is a Dual GPU card, can't tell you what GPUs it will use, but there is one for sure. Sometime around January.

Doubt it, more likely the 470 will just get some great "Going Out of Business" deals, and then will pretty much disappear.

Being six months late, running at extremely high temperatures, and excessively loud coolers which only worked to keep the GPUs below 95 degrees were but 3 of many other reasons a dual gf100 card never came to market. They could have also brought two gtx260-216's to market too, but they instead waited on the gt200 refresh before coming out with their dual part.

I don't see how the 470 wasn't a good card. For a long while it was around the same price as a 5850 while offering 5870 speeds and being a good overclocker. It ran a little on the hot side but not as bad as a 480, and could have arguably been one of the better bang for buck cards.

I can't wait for all the cheap 470 deals now.

It was! When I bought my 470, it was either 470 for $200 or HD5850 for $280 or HD5870 for $350. There is no way I could justify spending $150 extra for an HD5870 for 10% more performance. Over the summer, the 470s dipped to $200-250 so many times, that HD5870 and to some extent even the 5850 became overpriced in comparison, in the US market at least.

Even now, the GTX470 is still cheaper than an HD6870, making it once again a better card. Once you consider overclocking, the 6870 is completely out of the running.

GTX570 will probably be 20% faster though, but it will be competing against the HD6950. It's too hard to predict which of these 2 will be faster.

It's perception really. I think if a card releases late just doesn't blow everyone away it's just never going to be perceived as a good card. Throughout the whole Fermi debacle, people have been comparing 470/480 cards to the GeForce FX 5800 and Radeon 2900, which were failures. I think Fermi is more like the Radeon X1800s, which were good cards in their own right but just too late to market to be a success. These of course were replaced by the X1900s, which were pretty successful. This is the same thing with the GTX 500s now.

As far as deals go, you can already grab an EVGA GTX 470 + Mafia II for $250 at newegg right now. The main problem I see with with picking up a GTX 470 even at that price is that it will not be easy to sell without taking a serious loss.
 
For me the heat and noise made it a poor card. Too loud and too hot to deal with. Hence the reason the price tanked to $250 which made it a much better deal. The problem is once the 460 came out people realized Nvidia had fixed the 470 issues and now we are all waiting for the 5xx iterations to get what the 4xx iterations should have been.

The 570 is going to be a GTX 480 with less onboard memory and memory bandwidth.
