I have the opportunity to buy a 7870 GHz for $80 shipped...

To upgrade? Or not to upgrade?

For performance? Sure. But I've never been thrilled with AMD/ATI driver quality and stability

At $80 that is a no brainer, I'd even be tempted to just buy it at that price with no immediate need for it. The kids will eventually need a new card.

Had a 7850, 7870, and a 6450 (still own this one as a spare) and they were pretty good. No problems with the software except for the overscan/underscan that you must fiddle with the first time you install drivers.

This is how you end up with a closet full of tech parts (I know).
