This does seem an awful lot like the 550 launch. It's not a rebadge but it is a bad deal unless pricing changes. I hope forum readers manage to pick out this information from all the bickering.

If you are shopping in the $200 range, get a 560ti or 6950 1GB. If you find yourself closer to the $150 bracket then look at deals on 68xx Radeons and 460 1GB (while they are still in stock).

Edit: Just checked newegg, and 550 is still in an awkward price point. Any bets on whether the 560 will become a bang for the buck product like it's 460 cousin?

I tend to look at holes in pricing structures and nVidia had one that the GTX 560 fills. Also tend to pay attention to over-all MSRP more-so than what street or online vendors or rebates may offer for a given time. The GTX-560 hasn't had time for price adjustments or rebates yet, considering it was just launched. It's easy to dissect and nit-pick, but doesn't change the hole that did exist to me.

Sure it's filling a marketing gap but that doesn't mean I'd want anyone to decide to get a 560 over a 560ti right now.

It's filling a product sku gap for that around 199 MSRP price-point, where basically GTX 460 OC editions tried to fill between the GTX 460 and GTX 560 Ti.

That was a massive hole.

Agreed. In a few weeks you are going to see the same 20-30-40 dollars of msrp that your seeing on the gtx 560ti. Surprise , you don't see that on launch day, with rebates. You see that after other products begin selling at a faster rate than it.
6950's launched at 300.00, at the time, 6870's were 240.00, look where they are now.

Well, the world is supposed to end on the 21st. So maybe...

Didn't they say the same thing about the 11th?

EDIT: Going offtopic anyway. Seems like there's like a jamming of mid range cards into the market, though I can't blame NV or AMD, isn't the mid-range market huge?

Yeah, it seems silly. All of these cards with so little difference in performance. Nothing noticeable, usually. Unless the reviewers are failing to test these cards in a way that shows the differences between them. If they're all following the testing guidelines handed out to them by the GPU manufacturers, they aren't going to be revealing too many weaknesses.

Sure, rebates like these for EVGA GTX 460's as well:

If one is looking for value prices and adjustments, rebates are offered for different times but to offer blanket views based on launch prices is just odd to me. Ya hear these views from the vocal value poster complaining about blanket failures based on cherry picking and not allowing the product to adjust as well as other products have.

i love the idea nvidia is shoving out a new revised hacked up card every other week it seems like but reviews for the cards have obvious conclusions nvidias new gtx560 has to be faster then a gtx460 and has to be slower then a gtx560ti

wont be long before we have a winner called the gtx565 ti pulling off like a 145gbps bandwidth with a couple more cuda cores
